Abstract

This work aims to perform a reading of the short story A Terceira Margem do Rio, by João Guimarães Rosa, in the light of the concepts of Communication, Incommunication and Poetry. We understand the tale from the perspective of media narratives as a possible form of presentation, interpretation and recreation of human phenomena. To this end, we divide the tale into dramatic acts and observe how the phenomena of communication and incommunication are represented, especially through the son's narrative about his father. We conclude that communication and incommunication are poetically constructed in the narrative, allowing us a complex reading about the human phenomenon of communication.
